Oneworld member British Airways and Fiji Airways have teamed up to offer cheap tickets to Nadi from London. The tickets for these incredibly long trips cost £855 (~€976) – a fare that includes one checked bag of 23 kg. While that may sound like a high price for economy class tickets, you should consider that these flights take roughly 24 hours in each direction, and take you to a very remote destination.
Departures at the lowest fare are available in late February, May and June 2026.

From London, British Airways flies you to Vancouver on its Gatwick based, high density Boeing 777 fleet. From there, Fiji Airways will fly you to Nadi, using an Airbus A330. One 23 kg piece of luggage is included in these tickets. In some cases, the layover can also take place in a different American city, such as Los Angeles. The return flight arrives in Heathrow.
To change planes in Canada or the United States, you need an electronic registration and enter the country during your layover.
British citizens can enter the Fiji Islands for up to four months without applying for a visa.
Most European passport holders can stay in Canada for up to 180 days, but you must obtain an electronic travel authorization before your arrival in the country
Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.

These tickets are on sale without restriction like a travel or sales period. Your trip has to include a Sunday. Departures at the lowest fare are available in late February, May and June 2026.

Prices can be a bit shaky at times, but BA’s website helps you find the lowest available fare. Just keep an eye open for their suggestions above the flight selection screen.
Editor’s Note: This is a very interesting fare – from the exotic destination to the unusual routing via North America instead of Asia. While the price-tag certainly isn’t low, it is lower than what we’re used to on what is most certainly a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Information & Tips for Fiji
Fiji is best known for its coral reefs, clear lagoons, and palm-lined beaches, with popular sights including the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, traditional villages, and rainforest interiors. The local currency is the Fijian dollar (FJD), and while basic food and transport are reasonably priced, resort stays, tours, and imported goods can be relatively expensive. Fiji has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round; the drier, cooler season runs roughly from May to October, while November to April is hotter, more humid, and prone to heavy rain and occasional cyclones.
Transport in Fiji is functional but limited outside main population centers. In cities like Suva and Nadi, buses and shared taxis are inexpensive and commonly used, though schedules are not always strict. Travel between cities on the main islands is mostly by bus or car via a small network of highways, while reaching outer islands typically requires ferries or short domestic flights, which can be infrequent and weather-dependent.
